Cucumber Mint Infused Water Recipe

Current Recommendations for how much Water to Drink per Day

It’s a well-known recommendation to drink eight (8oz) glasses of water per day for good health. It’s easy to remember and in most cases will be an adequate amount of hydration needed but medical experts now have become more exact with their recommendations.

“In general, you should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, that would be 75 to 150 ounces of water a day.” – WebMD

Additional factors that should be considered is the amount of exercise you engage in, environment and weather, illness, health conditions, as well as pregnancy or breast-feeding mothers.  EXERCISE: An extra 1.5 to 2.5 cups (400 to 600 milliliters) of water should suffice for short bouts of exercise, but intense exercise lasting more than an hour (for example, running a marathon) requires more fluid intake. WEATHER: Hot or humid weather can make you sweat and requires additional intake of fluid. ILLNESS: When you have fever, vomiting or diarrhea, your body loses additional fluids. HEALTH: If you have kidney, liver or adrenal diseases, may impair excretion of water and thus fluid intake will need to be limited. PREGNANCY:  Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding need additional fluids to stay hydrated.

Some resist drinking water because they don’t like the taste or the lack thereof, thus need a bit of flavor to make their hydration goals easier to swallow. So here is a Cucumber Mint Infused Water Recipe to entice you to drink more to keep you hydrated, healthy and may lose weight.
