April 25, 2022 Episode – “Spotlight on Versailles: Cleaner and Safer Water”
Read Dialogue
Jennifer: Versailles is home to some great small businesses and one of them is KarSare Water Systems. We’re looking at one of the Water Softeners they sell. Mike Rohach is the owner, you’ve been in the community 26 years. Interesting that you named the business after your children.
Mike: That’s right, its named after Carson and Sara … KarSare. And we started about 27 years ago, and going at it ever since.
Jennifer: What are the ways you are helping your customers?
Mike: Well, the big that we do … you see the bourbon bottles I have here. Bourbon is made here in Kentucky because we have a lot of limestone in the water. That limestone is great for bourbon, but it is terrible for the piping, hot water heaters, faucets, showers, and everything else in your house. And so that is what a Softener does, it removes 100% of that hardness that is in the water. It protects your faucets, it protects the showers, it protects everything that you have so it’s a good investment to keep the things in your home working well for a long time.
Jennifer: This is the water softener; this is a really big piece of equipment.
Mike: It is, but it’s actually very small when it comes to softeners, so usually a softener sits about this high (4-5 feet), but our softener is this big (3’), and it’s the most efficient softener in the world. And that title came to us a couple years ago, plus it’s non-electric so there’s no timers or motors and all that stuff. It’s not there.
Jennifer: So how does it work in the home? You have a device right there.
Mike: Okay so that’s the softener and this is the drinking water system, so the softener takes out 100% of the hardness and the drinking water station takes out everything else in the water. You see the water comes out in a good flow from the faucet, but this is bottled water. You can use it for your coffee, for your tea, you can use it for formulas for the baby. And you’re taking out pesticides, the fertilizers, and even the pharmaceuticals that are now going into our water in small amounts, but getting bigger as the time goes on.
Jennifer: And you can tell by looking at your faucet that you’re getting results?
Mike: So this faucet has been in here for 12 years and if you look at the bottom, we don’t clean that, I didn’t clean it for this show but it is clean. There’s no buildup on it and that’s what you want to see in your home. And if there’s no buildup there, there’s no buildup in the hotwater heaters and on the showers and other places in the house where there is water.
Jennifer: Where can people find KarSare Systems and where can they get more information?
Mike: They can call the office at (859) 873-7909 and talk to Lisa. She’ll give you Steve and he will help you from there.
